NEWS and NOTES

Orchard View Education

September 2014

Since opening my doors at Orchard View Education Center in September 2011, I have had the privilege of meeting and working with wonderful families, motivated students, and great groups. It is a bittersweet parting today as I move on to my next excellent adventure – as a Gifted and Talented teacher in Ballston Spa, Fort Ann, and Granville. Though I will offer no courses during the daytime, nor after school, I will continue to schedule math tutoring, curriculum consulting, and special programs for evening groups (Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H, youth groups, etc). All of that information can still be found on my website www.orchardvieweducation.com.

I will keep up with my friends and families through blog posts, newsletters, and email. Please keep in touch and thank you for your support and encouragement through these 3 wonder-filled years.

An updated list of changes can be found on my current newsletter here.

Have a fabulous new school year!

Katherine McCleneghen (aka Mrs. M)

JULY 2014

Summer brings changes in weather, schooling, free time, friendships and plans each year.  This year our family will host no summer camps, but instead focus on experiencing all that the season offers with family and friends.  Each day is documented in our summer journal while we cross off items on on our Summer To-Do list.  Enjoy these 10 weeks and we'll see you out and about!

Read the most current News and Notes here.

Have a wonder-filled month!

Testing...

Posted on May 19, 2014 at 9:00 PM Comments comments (0)

No, I am not writing about the quantity, quality, or questionable testing that occurs in and out of our schools, but rather the ability of my website to produce a blog feed.

Please notice that my website now displays orchardvieweducation.com in your address bar (as opposed to the vpweb address I previously held), but that seems to have changed a great number of things.  So am troubleshooting... and you are the lucky recipient.

Thank you for your patience - and we can talk about testing in person!  :)

Enjoy the beautiful days!

Special events for the Week of March 10...

Posted on March 8, 2014 at 10:40 AM Comments comments (0)

Orchard View has been a busy place this winter and we are looking forward to daylight savings time to return with spring just around the corner!

  • March classes are well underway and April classes have been announced - check out what's new on the Services page!

  • Current After the Bell-STEAM students should dress for the weather, as we are planning to be outside for our entire time together.  Last week we explored the back acres discovering tracks and scat, snowflakes as they fell from the sky, remnants of fall, signs of spring, and growth and recovery traits in our apple trees.  We hope to experience 4 different types of weather in these four weeks of March.  In April we will continue our outdoor discovery with Playground Physics.  New students are always welcome!

  • Friday is PI DAY!  3.14=March.14th...  Join us for a one-shot workshop from 10am-12noon for to become well-rounded with pie graphs, fractions of circles, pi as related to circumference and diameter, round games, and… pie! Registration required. All ages.

Enjoy the sun and we'll see you soon!

Time used creatively...

Posted on January 20, 2014 at 8:05 PM Comments comments (0)

Welcome to all of my new subscribers!

I am, once again, testing out my new blogging toy and looking for feedback.

I love to learn just about anything, so if you have a lesson for me (or some advice) about how my posts look from your end, please don't hesitate to comment.  Adding photos in the right size and placement seems to be one of my biggest challenges thus far.

These tangles were created in the last few days during the quiet times after the children have gone to bed, TV is a great background noise, and my mind wanders.  If this type of artwork is interesting or inspiring to you, please visit the original Zentangle website and find out what it's all about.
